As you may have read in another blog of mine, I LOVE summer! Even more I love this specific time of the summer...4th of July weekend. It is the best season of the year, the best weekend of the year, and the best holiday of the year. The best of the best!
Here are some local 4th of July activities:
East Portland Community Center 14th annual Independence Day parade. With pre-parade activities like face painting, hot dogs, a climbing wall, and crafts.

When: Friday, July 1, 11:30 AM. Pre-parade festivities start at 10.
Ladd's Addition Annual 4th of July Parade (reader submission). Get our your dolled up bikes, wagons, strollers, scotters and outfits to join in the red, white & blue parade down Elliott Avenue, around Ladds Circle, and ending at Abernethy School for a cool treat.

Eastmoreland Annual Fourth of July Parade. Kids decorate bikes and wagons and dress in costume. Pets welcome! The parade is led by a police car and fire engine. Afterwards everyone is welcome to free Otto's hot dogs, ice cream, and soda.

4th of July Parade and BBQ at the Hillside Community Center. Join for a parade, and then a BBQ with hot dogs, chips, and drinks – and bring your own for potluck sharing. Neighbors with last names A-L bring desserts; M-Z bring salads.
Where: Parade starts at Cumberland and Powhattan.
When: Monday, July 4. Parade starts at 11 AM
Waterfront Blues Festival PLUS fireworks. Come for the music, stay for the fireworks (or hey, vice versa!)
Where: Tom McCall Waterfront ParkWhen: The festival goes on all weekend. On the 4th, fireworks begin at 10:05 PM
Cost: Admission to the festival is $10 per person per day, plus 2 cans of nonperishable food for the Oregon Food Bank
Annual Fourth of July Celebration at Oaks Park Amusement ParkPLUS Fireworks
Where: Oaks Park, 7805 SE Oaks Park WayWhen: Monday, July 4. Park opens at 10 AM; fireworks begin at dusk
Cost: $5 ages 16 and over; $3 under 15; $3 seniors 62 and up
Fourth of July events in Banks include kids games, barrel train rides, food, and fireworks

When: Monday, July 4 beginning at 5. Fireworks at 10.
4th of July Celebration and Fireworks in Cascade Locks
Where: Marine Park, Cascade Locks, OR

Fourth of July celebration in Corbett, Oregon. Events include a pancake breakfast, parade, music, fun zone inflatables, vendors, clowns, balloons, and – of course –fireworks.

Estacada 4th of July Big Bang Fun Festival. Carnival, parade, fireworks, live music – sounds like it’s worth the trip!
